Overview of Services

Beyond making available state-of-the-art, user-friendly facilities and services, the MSC at UIC enables education, methods development, and new application development, designed to meet the fast-pace needs of researchers.

Equiped with one GC MS, one ICP MS and seven LC-MS systems: four triple quads, two hybrid time of flight and one hybrid LTQ-Orbitrap.

Data acquisition/analysis conducted with Xcalibur, ChemStation, Masshunter, Analyst, Mascot, Sequest Sorcerer, Mass Matrix, Scaffold, Maxquant, ProteomeDiscoverer and ProteinPilot.

Routine mass spec services include:

Trace metal analysis, molecular weight determination, MS/MS, LC-MS, high resolution MS, protein identification, PTMs analysis, database search, MRM based quantitation, lipidomics, metabolomics, proteomics and more.

Sample submission/dropoff

Please submit your service request FIRST.

Then bring the samples with the form printout in freezer boxes or transparent bags to MSC staff at CfSB lab (1100 S. Ashland Ave.). 

Please wait at the main entrance for the staff to open the door after ringing the bell.  

Or you can ship the samples to our main lab above addressed at 1100 S. Ashland Ave. 

Samples will be queued in order of the date of receipt.
